In 2010, Gary graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Performance). Relocating to Melbourne, Gary completed a Bachelor of Music Performance (Honours) at the Victorian College of Arts. In 2013, he completed a Masters in Music (Performance Teaching) at Melbourne University. Similarly, in 2014 Gary completed a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) at Monash University.
Gary has studied with some of Australia’s foremost guitarist and musicians, including, Jim Kelly, James sherlock and Geoff Hughes. He is a member of the Melbourne based country and western swing group, The Flaming Mongrels. He also leads his own jazz outfit tat has performed at some of Melbourne’s premier venues and festivals, including Bennett’s Lane and the Mornington Jazz Festival. As a sideman, Gary has played with numerous groups throughout Melbourne and Australia, including Golden Guitar and Aria nominee Jasmine Rae. His style is an eclectic mix of country, blues and jazz; combining blistering chicken pick’n licks, moaning pedal steel bends and swinging beebop runs.
